After being rescued from the streets by Transforming Nations in 2019, Willys received care, counseling, education, and a safe place to rebuild his life.
Today, he is in 9th grade and one of the top-performing students in his class — a powerful reminder that care, education, and a second chance can transform a child's future.
Wilson Imbayi is a 16 years old boy
who was born out of incest (inbreeding). In the Luyha culture, such a child is usually murdered. In order to protect him, mother had to run away with him.
As a result of her poverty-stricken life, his mom turned to alcohol. One day, while she was drunk, she forgot young Willy, who was near the cooking area. Willy’s curiosity took him on a venture close to the fire, which resulted in a severe burn.
This left him physically handicapped. After the tragic death of his mom, Willy was left to a life on the street.
In 2019, Transforming Nations rescued Willys from the streets and supported him through rehabilitation, care, counselling, and education.
With consistent care support, and a safe environment, Willys returned to school and began rebuilding his life. Today, he is in 9th grade and is one of the top-performing students in his class.
Despite the pain, loss, and challenges he has experienced, Willys continues to study hard and move forward with determination.
